Let's rally together to help the Navajo community get basic vet care and spay/neuter services for the dogs on the reservation
Animal Balance is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization that creates & provides humane animal population management programs where conflicts between people, wildlife, & domestic animals occur, or where communities do not have access, or cannot afford veterinary care. The most ethical, logical, & effective solution is a gradual reduction of the population of both community & owned cats & dogs through high-volume, high-quality sterilization. The mission is to collaborate with communities in need to create sustainable and humane and humane non human animal management program to prevent suffering & ignite social change.
The Ramah Chapter is a smaller Navajo Chapter located in New Mexico that doesn't have access to veterinary services within a 2 hour drive and often have to wait longer & are charged more for services. As a result, many do not make the hard and tiring effort to travel for services resulting in out of control dog breed, display of nuisance behaviors of intact dogs like mating, packing, bleeding, fighting, and noise at night. The dog overpopulation has reach a crisis point and they have become vectors for many diseases that can be fatal.
Animal Balance will be providing free veterinary care at a pop-up clinic for 3 days in August to this area! They will be providing spay/neuter services, vaccinations, parasite medications, clean ears, trim nails and attend to any other medical conditions they are able to. Their goal is to treat & sterilize 200 animals in 3 days.
